Katie and Christian's pastor at Life.Church, Craig Groeschel, has a fantastic analogy of what a relationship devoted to the Lord should look like. Each person should be running their own individual race, eyes and heart on the Lord, full steam ahead to the finish line of eternity. But, if you happen to glance over and someone is running alongside you in the same way, grab their hand and keep running towards God!! That's exactly what happened, just in a sound booth at a worship night! Katie and Christian strive that their relationship carry on in that same heart posture. Their ultimate goal is to reflect the love and devotion that the Lord has for His Bride, the Church, and vice versa as described in Ephesians 5: 22-30. Though imperfect humans, Katie and Christian pray that their love for each other points people to the truth that Jesus, the perfect Bridegroom, reigns and that His love is available for all that come to Him! Katie and Christian continue to serve alongside each other and in their own individual means, all with the intention that they join together for a greater purpose of expanding the Lord's Kingdom and making Heaven crowded!!

Katie was just starting to clean the espresso machine at Haystack Coffee during her first solo closing shift. There was a worship night about to happen upstairs and she was hoping to make at least the last part of it. Her boss and Christian's future mentor, Justin Talley, ran down the stairs and told Katie to close down ASAP because they needed someone to run slides for song lyrics- like immediately!! She locked the shop doors and ran upstairs, where she was guided to a seat behind the sound booth. Christian was working audio for the first time at the BCM that night, and was the one to quickly show Katie how to run the slides software. They both got to work and it was all going smoothly. While adjusting faders, he realized Katie was harmonizing to the songs...and she was good at it...and that she was really cute. Like REALLY cute. Christian got her number after the worship night was over to call her up for "future worship events". Yeah, suuuuuuper smooth move. Katie and Christian became quick friends over the summer and were each others' go-to person to hang with. They served at more worship nights with the BCM and visited the horses together. Christian gave Katie some guitar lessons and made a point to order his daily latte only when Katie was working. He even fulfilled her dream of someone walking her to class, and stepped it up as her personal chauffeur with his Jeep when it got cold outside. On the night of November 11 of 2023, Katie and Christian became a thing in a Torchy's Tacos parking lot after an OU football game. About a year and a half later, Christian proposed to Katie at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs on a ministry retreat!
