Proposal in San Juan, Puerto Rico. July 14th, 2022.
It's crazy to think that Alex and I have known each other for over 12 years! We first met sophomore year of high school during Spanish class. The next two years we didn't stay in touch, until May of 2012. Two weeks before Senior Prom, I suddenly popped into Alex's head and he decided to ask me to be his prom date. After a great night out, and our first kiss, we soon realized we wanted to be more than just friends. We had the summer of our lives before college, and decided to continue on long distance. In March of 2013, we decided to go our separate ways. Although we were apart, we never stopped wishing the best for one another. We never thought that six years later we would reunite again. During the summer of 2019, Alex thought of me once again on a beach in Puerto Rico, and the rest is history. After all those years, our friendship was still solid. This time we found a new love and appreciation for each other. We had both matured, and were well established in our career paths. Our fond memories of each other were still vivid, and our love grew into something much bigger. We went through our struggles, but we got through them and learned to trust each other even more. The love you see today is one that has been growing for many years, and we are so happy to be able to share that with the world on our wedding day! As a little girl, I always wanted to have a love like the movies, but the love I found far exceeded what I could have imagined. It was not just coincidences that brought us together, but little signs that brought us where we are today. As our relationship continues to grow, these signs and magical movie moments continue on. While picking our wedding date, we wanted it to be just as special as our love story. We didn't want to just pick it, but we wanted it to be meaningful. July 18th is a special date because this number resembles us as teenagers when our love first started at 18 years old. It also signifies new beginnings and positivity. One day while trying to finalize our date, a bible scripture that read 7:18 came up on Alex's phone. With all these signs and meanings, we knew it was the perfect date to get married. Two years later, we found out that 7/18/24 was not only meaningful, but according to the Chinese New Year, it was lucky for anyone born in 1994. All of these things prove that we were always truly meant to be. It is our love story.
