Pacific Surfliner

Coming from LA and don't want to drive? Take the Pacific Surfliner, a beautiful coastal train from LA that drops you right smack dab in downtown Santa Barbara. The Pacific Surfliner departs from Union Station (LAX has a specific FlyAway bus that drops you there), stops at Burbank airport/Van Nuys and other convenient locations. If you want to make a meal out of it, this train stops at Carpinteria, San Luis Obispo, and San Francisco up along the coast.

SBA + LAX

Both SBA and LAX have all the classic car rental agencies we know and love inside or near the terminal: Enterprise, National, Alamo, Hertz, Avis, Budget, Dollar and Thrifty. We recommend skipping the car and opting for the occasional Uber if flying into Santa Barbara, unless you are planning on exploring the coast. If flying into LA, rent car or take the Pacific Surfliner train.
