How We Met

Meet Cute

Meet Cute: “An amusing or charming first encounter between two people that leads to the development of a romantic relationship between them.” As neighbors in Hyattsville, Maryland, we were both heading out for the day. I was having trouble locking my front door. I looked around and there he was standing there. I called out to him “Excuse me, do you mind helping me lock my door?” He was stunned. “Is this a prank? Where are the cameras.” He couldnt beleive I was having such a hard time. We both laughed and he locked my door anyway. We began having a introductory conversation. And from there…the rest is history.

The Proposal

02/13/2021

We talked about marriage a couple of times before, and we were certain we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. We took a trip to LA to visit family and friends for Valentine’s Day weekend. We were only there for a short trip so we had to use our time effectively. We picked up Kamdi’s best friends and headed down to Long Beach to ride on a boat and grab lunch afterwards. Unfortunately we got there too late and missed the boat ride. We were a little disappointed, but the magic was on the horizon. After we grabbed some lunch we headed back to the hotel to relax before dinner. With COVID-19 still in the air, much was uncertain at the time so we couldn’t invite everyone to join us for dinner. It started off with everyone greeting and hugging, as some of us hadn’t seen each other in quite some time. From there, I stood up to make a toast. In the toast I said, “This is a very, very special occasion. You’ve had my back. Your friends are here. You definitely mean a lot to me, and I definitely want to spend the rest of my life with you…with that being said, Will you marry me?” Kamdi said “Yes!”
