We met for the very first time when I was still at Dallas Baptist and he was at Tech. I went to Lubbock to go on a camping trip with Drew, my older brother, and all of his friends so I could meet some people before transferring there. I saw Kambel and definitely thought that he was cute, but we didn't talk much that trip. Fast forward to the following fall. I began hanging out with Drew's friend group and then they became my friend group as well. Kambel and I stood by each other at one of the first football games and talked the entire time. I definitely thought he was great, but my mind was set on just being friends. Fast forward- throughout the year I constantly needed to print things for school, but I didn't have a printer. Coincidently, Kambel did! So I spent a lot of time (some necessary and some not) at his house printing everything. He was so patient, kind, and fun to be around, so why not! We became really good friends who did just about everything together. We knew we weren't going to date because I literally told him, "I just want us to be friends, we will never date". (My mom warned me I would regret saying that) THANKFULLY that didn't stop Kambel from being my best friend and hanging out with me all the time. He would drive across Lubbock with me to go to the Walmart that I liked, or would go to every single one of my indoor soccer games to hangout with me. He's the best! Fast forward- He graduated and I was still in Lubbock for my senior year. Our hanging out became more intentional since we lived 5 hours apart. For spring break I went to Mansfield to go to the Fort Worth Zoo with him. He came to Lubbock to go to a wedding with me. We made sure we still saw each other and talked quite often. Finally- in September of 2019, I called him and said "so...are we just going to be best friends forever or what?" That next weekend he came to Frisco, and we went on our first date. Dating has been fun, being engaged has been great, and we cannot wait to be MARRIED!
I have never met someone as thoughtful as Kambel Cox. Kambel wrote notes that I was going to be given throughout the day. The first note came in the morning from my mom and as soon as I received it, I knew what was happening. The letters were written in the progression of our friendship and relationship. The first note was just preparing me for the day and reminding me of his favorite things about meeting me the first time and then what he remembers from the football game and some things from his perspective. I walked in my house and one of my best friends from college was there! Sarah gave me my second note, and I got to spend some quality time with her. A little later, my sisters gave me the third note, and I was on my way to wherever Sarah was taking me. We ended up at a nail salon (THANK GOODNESS, my nails looked atrocious). We got to hangout and just talk. Kambel knew I hadn't seen her in a while and would love to just spend a day with her. When I finished getting my nails done, Sarah gave me my 4th note. By this time, the information on the notes became more recent, so I figured I would be seeing him soon! We started going to the next location and well... we got lost. It was truly so funny, and we were both laughing. I finally just told her to call Kambel because I had no idea where we were going, and she had no idea where we were. Kambel answered and directed her to where we were supposed to go. Once we parked, she gave me the 5th note. This note had actually been the first note written. He wrote it a few months earlier when he drove to Waco and asked my dad and mom for their blessing. It was so sweet, and I had NO IDEA it was happening. Sarah walked me to a place in Cameron Park and said, "Okay, this is where I leave you. Go to the bench and turn left and you will see him." So I hugged her and started my walk. The path was lined with pictures of us throughout our friendship and dating. He was there and read the sixth & final letter. He asked. I said YES!
