Kamara and Jonathon met in February of 2015 at Big XII, a Black Student Government Conference, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Kamara noticed Jonathon first and thought he was the most handsome man she had ever seen. Kamara and Jonathon had a mutual friend attending the conference and Jonathon asked her about Kamara. Jonathon said that Kamara was GORGEOUS and the rest was history!

Jonathon surprised Kamara with an amazing proposal on May 14, 2018! The proposal took place on Buckroe Beach in Hampton Virginia. Jon told Kam that he had a student that needed a couple to take pictures of for his summer project titled “Black Love”. The student suggested Kamara should wear a flowy dress and Jonathon wear a button up shirt. Once the three were at the beach the couple did an interview together answering a series of questions about themselves, love and more specifically black love. After this part was done the photo shoot began. First they did couple pictures then individual pictures facing the ocean. Jon went first with his pictures then snuck and retrieved the engagement ring while Kam took her individual pictures. Once Kam was done with her individual pictures she turned around and Jon was on one knee with a beautiful diamond ring. As Jon was confessing his love for his soon to be fiancée, Kam was completely shocked and was literally at a loss for words. When Jon asked Kam if she would marry him two random words (“uhhh yea”) fell out her mouth and they were happily engaged. Everything was perfect that day except for the fact that Kam forgot her phone at home. It was eating her up inside that she couldn’t tell the world that she was engaged to the man of her dreams. Nevertheless, Jon did amazing with the proposal, don’t you agree?
