Important Notes for the Church Ceremony
Dress Modestly – Women should wear long dresses or skirts that cover the knees and shoulders, with a head covering (netela or scarf) encouraged. Men should wear long pants with a collared shirt or suit. Please avoid shorts, mini-skirts, sleeveless or low-cut tops, jeans, and flashy or overly casual clothing.
Remove Shoes – Before entering the Mekdes (Inner Sanctuary), remove your shoes as a sign of reverence and to honor the sacredness of the space.
Standing – Services are often lengthy, with most of the congregation standing. Sitting is perfectly fine if needed, and the community is welcoming to all.
Separate Seating – Men sit on the left and women on the right when facing the altar.
Venerating Items – Worshippers may kiss icons, crosses, or the priest’s hand as a gesture of deep respect.
Food and Drinks– Many fast before and during service; food is not permitted inside.
No Photography – Please refrain from taking photos or videos during the passing of the Holy Communion.
