The Wharf is a great touristy spot with lots of food and sights to see. Once there, be sure to walk along the water (and up a steep hill) to Great Meadow Park at Fort Mason for a lovely view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Go a few more steps and you'll be in the Marina, Bryan's favorite spot in the city.
North Beach and Chinatown are two lively and adjacent neighborhoods with lots of restaurants and bars. If you're looking for a fun nightlife scene, this is the place to be. Bryan particularly likes Columbus Ave., which stretches from the Transamerica Pyramid to Fisherman's Wharf.
Golden Gate Park offers lots of beauty and room to walk, stretching from the historic Haight-Ashbury neighborhood all the way to Ocean Beach. It is a few miles from downtown, so expect to take a bus or Uber unless you want a long walk. Golden Gate Park is home to the San Francisco Botanical Gardens, the Queen Wilhelmina Garden, a heard of buffalo for some reason, and much more!
We've never been, but everyone seems interested. Check it out if you please.
Sausalito is quaint little town across the Golden Gate Bridge. We really enjoy renting a bike and biking from Fisherman's Wharf, across the Golden Gate Bridge, and then into Sausalito for ice cream. You can then take a ferry back across the bay. After the ferry ride, be sure to stop in at the Ferry Building along the Embarcadero for some treats and people watching. If you rent bikes for the whole day, you can continue exploring the Presidio, Golden Gate Park, and Ocean Beach.
If you are renting a car and want to get out of the city, head down HWY 1 to Half Moon Bay, Kallista's hometown! Our favorite spots include Surfer's Beach, Main Street, and the Coastal Trail. If you're looking to get wet, rent wetsuits and boards from Maverick's Surf Shop!
The wine country is a beautiful drive with rolling hills and endless vineyards. There's plenty of wineries, markets and restaurants to explore. If you're brave, try a mud bath at a spa!
