Little did I know Blake and I had a mutual friend who was working on a plan for us long before we met. Fast forward to the Dixie National Rodeo, which my group of friends had bought tickets for well ahead of time. My friend had already made a point to tell Blake we were going and he should get a ticket. Knowing I would chicken out if I knew I was being set up, I wasn’t told Blake would be there until the day of. Blake and I were casually introduced at the rodeo and spent the rest of the night dancing and talking. Of course the night wouldn’t be complete until I somehow managed to embarrass myself, which was accomplished when I sat on a table, the legs folded, and I ended up sprawled out on the floor in front of Blake….. smooth I know! Afterwards he walked me to my vehicle and slyly put his number in my phone so that the “ball was in my court.” I’d say it worked. I reached out to him the next day and the relationship grew from there!
We had gone on a family vacation to the beach with Blake’s family. Blake had mentioned we should take a walk on the beach one evening, I knew he gets stir crazy sitting around for to long, so I agreed that would be nice. We had stayed out on the beach for a majority of the day and as we were about to head back to the condo later that evening I suggested we take that walk. Blake said sure but that he wanted to go shower first and asked if I was going to shower as well. In hind site I have to laugh because that would have been a good idea and made for better pictures, but I remember thinking it was so strange to shower before getting hot/sandy all over again so I said no. We get to the condo and Blake then tells his family he’s going to propose… in the next 10 minutes, if you know Blake you know he’s not much of a planner! So we take off on our walk and on the way back we stopped and talked for a minute before he got on one knee and proposed. I said yes, as long as he let go of my right hand and put the ring on my left hand :) The cheering from strangers on their balconies was a nice touch to end it all. We are so excited and can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!!
