Travel Note
Most guests will drive into Mexico via the Lukeville/Sonoyta border crossing. The roads are safe and well-traveled, but we do recommend daytime travel and topping off your gas tank in the U.S. before crossing.
Travel Note
A valid passport is required for all travelers returning to the U.S. — no exceptions. U.S. citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays under 180 days, but you may be asked to fill out a FMM (tourist card) at the border. This is usually free if you're staying less than 7 days.
Travel Note
Car insurance: U.S. car insurance isn’t valid in Mexico — you’ll need to buy Mexican auto insurance ahead of time or at the border. No fresh produce/meat/alcohol is allowed back into the U.S., so save your grocery hauls for home. Cell service: Check with your provider for international roaming or consider downloading offline maps.
