Many of our international guests will need to fly to Sofia, 'Vasil Levski' International Airport (SOF). There is also an airport in Plovdiv, closer to the venue, but there are better flight options and accessibility to Sofia.

Hotel
The wedding ceremony and reception will both take place on-site at the Starosel hotel complex. Situated in the scenic Bulgarian countryside, the resort blends relaxing spa-and-wellness experiences, a winery with wine tours and tastings, delicious dining options, and plenty of opportunities to unwind before and after our celebration. Hotel
We have arranged a block of rooms and a preferential rate for guests. Please see the attached document for additional information, the booking link, and instructions. How To Pay By Credit Card: When you go to checkout the website will ask you to choose how you would like to pay your deposit. Due to a website issue the only option to click is to pay by bank transfer. You can still pay by credit card by clicking the option to pay by bank transfer and completing your checkout. Then, upon completion you should get a confirmation email. When you receive your confirmation email there will be a blue button that takes you to the "Self Service Portal". Once you are in the portal, click "Check your bill" and then the green button at the top that says "Debit/Credit Card". If you have any trouble at all, feel free to reach out to Antonia or Kalen.
Travel Note
Canadian and American citizens do NOT need a formal visa to travel to the Schengen Area, including Bulgaria. Starting in Q4 2026, visa-exempt travelers (including US and Canada) will be required to submit an ETIAS for travel to Schengen countries. As of now, the ETIAS system is NOT in effect and no action is required from travellers at this point. Ensure that your passport has validity for at least 3 months after your planned departure date from the Schengen Area. Travel Note
If you plan on renting a car or driving in Bulgaria, it is highly recommended you get an International Driving Permit (IDP) before you depart for your trip in order to avoid potential fines. This permit costs $32 and can be requested easily from CAA. It must be carried with you along with your Canadian Driver's license when you drive internationally.
