Kalena & Ryan first met after Maika, Kalena's older brother, snagged her an interview with the Parking & Transportation Department at UTD. On the day of the interview, Kalena entered the conference room and sat at a table with a few (FIVE) veteran student workers, who were going to give her interview. Ryan was one of those student workers; however, he didn't say anything during the interview. Ryan was only focused on the Lilo & Stitch lanyard that Kalena was using to carry her keys and wallet (she still does not own a purse). At the time, Kalena & Ryan were just doing their jobs, chillin', going to class, and enjoying the good vibes.

The weekend of spring break 2017, Kalena was in Houston for Goodphil while Ryan was chilling at his apartment with a friend. Kalena, in a sleep deprivation haze, texted Ryan saying that she had a slight crush on him. Luckily (emphasis here), Ryan said that he felt the same way. Later that week, Ryan was trying to teach Kalena how to play soccer before their IM leagues started. After a failed attempt and some lunch, Ryan asked Kalena to be his girlfriend!

Angie, Kalena's sister-in-law, was going to make a boba run and asked Kalena to come along (that is when Ryan went to work on his proposal). When Kalena and Angie arrived back at their apartment, Kalena walked into her room to see an outfit and a letter on her bed. Maika and Angie (love them!) drove Kalena to UTD where she followed the clues to solve the scavenger hunt. The end of the scavenger hunt led Kalena to her old parking spot and, of course, Ryan was waiting there. Elvis (Kalena & Ryan's dog) and Matua (Kalena's younger brother) were calling Kalena's name, so she could turn around. When Kalena turned back around to face Ryan, he was on one knee (audience: "awww"). Then we all went to Chick-fil-a for dinner (sponsor us)!
