The heart of San Clemente, the pier is an iconic, historical piece of our Spanish Village by the Sea. There is paid-parking in the main pier bowl if you take Del Mar all the way to the ocean. There is additional free parking on the residential side streets.
T Street is our favorite beach in San Clemente and it’s where our relationship started. It is one of the most popular, local beaches in the city and its a beach that’s known across the world. There is paid parking on either side of the bridge and free parking on the side streets. Bring your surfboard, bodyboard and fins if you want to go in the water. This is a safe, beautiful beach for families, and the waves are great!
Many know of Sweeet Repeeet — it’s Kaleigh’s mom’s shop! Sweeet Repeeet is a high-end women’s clothing consignment boutique. Shop around for designer handbags like Louis Vuitton or everyday attire — brands like Lululemon and Anthropologie — at more than half-off retail prices. Acting as a little reminder of Hilo, HI, Nalu’s serves Hawaiian food that is just as good as if you were in the Islands. The mixed plate with chicken katsu and kalua pork is Kaleigh’s go-to, whereas Trevor orders the spicy poké bowl with a spam musubi on the side. It is a great lunch place and has nice indoor seating with Hawaii artwork and local paintings. Price: $$
Nomads is by far Kaleigh and Trevor’s favorite restaurant in town. It has a relaxed atmosphere and is a mix between Hawaiian and Mexican cuisine. Offering reasonable prices and casual dining, there’s indoor and outdoor self seating. The poké bowls are delicious and they have a great variety of craft beers, wine and cocktails. Price: $$
Pizza Port is a local brewery in town, serving pizza and their own craft beer (kid friendly too!). It has a very relaxed vibe and has arcade games for the kids upstairs. With a great pizza menu and plenty of beers on tap, tons of seating and street parking, this place is a favorite stop for a night-out with friends. Price: $ - $$
Kaleigh and Trevor love Lost Winds Brew! Kaleigh enjoys their San O stout and Trevor favors their IPA’s. Lost Winds usually cater a food truck too so you can get lunch or dinner with your beers. There is upstairs and downstairs seating with trendy local decor for sale and plenty of parking. Tuesday’s are trivia night!
SJC winery offers their own wine brand and has a full lunch and dinner menu featuring modern American cuisine. This is our go-to for a classy date night on the town. Also located on Del Mar Street, this restaurant is usually crowded on Friday nights. Price: $$$
Sony’s is a San Clemente staple that has been in business forever. With a full Italian lunch and dinner menu, Sony’s offers an easy-going, local atmosphere. Their menu includes all the dishes a classic Italian restaurant would have: pizza, bread, pasta and wine. Price: $$ - $$$
South Swell is serves hand dipped ice cream (on sticks!) and chocolate dipped frozen bananas. They have a full menu of different ice cream and topping combinations! It’s a yummy place for dessert after a date night and close to many restaurants on Del Mar. Price: $
Just ask any San Clemente or Dana Point local about RJ’s cafe and they’ll tell you the same thing: RJ’s is the classic comfort food restaurant that is always PACKED. RJ the owner is usually walking around joking and telling stories with diners and helping his staff wait tables. The cafe is a local staple for brunch and has a wonderful, reasonably priced menu. If you want an easy breakfast for the whole family, The Bagel Shack is the place! This breakfast restaurant has outdoor seating but is quick enough to take on-the-go. The Bagel Shack serves bagels (gluten free options too), burritos, bagel sandwiches and beverages. Kaleigh usually orders the “Lowers” with bacon on an Everything Bagel. ZebraHouse coffee has a drive-through and seating inside. It’s been newly renovated and offers gluten-free/vegan beverages and food options. Kaleigh’s favorite drink is a hot Rose Chai Tea Latte and a hot pumpkin cinnamon muffin. Yum!
The newest trendiest coffee bar in SC is Sur Coffee. It is a small locally owned business that is a go-to cafe for locals who want to get out of the house and sip on premium roasted coffee. It is on El Camino Real and is right next to Del Mar Street and close to cute boutiques to shop. Price: $
