How We Met

Over the years...

TJ and I have ALWAYS been around each other. We lived a neighborhood apart...went to the same elementary, middle and high school. It wasn't until 2005 when I (Kalee) first took notice of TJ. He was the cute junior in speech and debate club. I was the "just trying to survive high school" gal doing yearbook. Once I graduated high school in 2007, and Facebook became a thing, I added cutie TJ ROBERTSON to my friends list. To my surprise, he added me back. I began messaging him in 2009, and eventually got asked on a date. We went and saw "The Blindside." I loved every second of it. Throughout the 2009-2010 school year, TJ and I traveled between Monmouth and Eugene to hang out and party at each others houses. We kept in touch throughout the years, and randomly would run into each other. In 2013 we went to froyo to catch up. I was constantly crushing on TJ, and confused on how he felt back...he tends to be awkward (which I love). Also, I left every time thinking..."SHUT UP KALEE...you talk too much." In 2017, we reconnected and met up to carve pumpkins. After pumpkins, it was dinner, and movies, volunteering, and family hang outs... While the whole time, I did not realize we were dating. It wasn't until December after volunteering at the Food Bank that TJ said, "Isn't this a fun date?" I was ecstatic! FINALLY in January, after spending New Year's Eve together, TJ asked me to officially be his girlfriend. Man..was his family surprised! (The kid likes to keep to himself.) The last two years have been the best years of our lives..and the best is yet to come!

The Proposal

09/21/19

April 4th I went to Fred Meyers while Kalee was at Gerry Brooks with her teacher friends. We were dating for more then a year and a half, and I was head over heels and heels over head. There were nice rings but I needed to see something special for the person that is most special in my life. I sought advice from my Dad and my friend Pat. Both gave great advice. Pat suggested going with a one of a kind custom ring for a one of a kind lady. In July I had designed the ring with the help of Kalee's Pinterest board, amazing scary times we live in. Inspired by the woman that inspires me every day to be a better me. In August, with ring in hand, I needed to build up the courage to ask Kalee's father. He is kindhearted, and one of the most sweetest men. However, he also works corrections, so he has connections. I planned on asking him on the golf course (his territory). After explaining the importance of respect and the commitment I wanted to make, he gave me his blessing. Next, I had to decide how to ask Kalee. All week long I kept on going through different plans on how to ask. Should it be a simple walk because she makes the simple sublime? I eventually decided to go on a hike to a stop we had on a previous date. I asked Kalee if she wanted to go on a hike. She said yes. You heard that right... she said yes to a hike! I talked about it with my parents, I talked to Bob... I still needed to tell Shelly. She gave me her blessing. We woke up the morning of Saturday, September 21st. I went on my 100th run. We go to the parking lot of Bridal Veil Falls. Applied name because I fell in love with this bride to be. The parking lot was empty this early morning, and I was getting nervous. I planned on just asking someone to take our picture. When we got to the falls there was a couple, and we took their picture. Then it was our turn to get pictures taken, and I showed them the ring. Kalee was surprised, the people taking the picture were surprised and she said yes.
