We’re getting married!

The simple story is that we met at UC Davis. Pretty straight forward and boring. The more interesting part is that we actually went on a dinner date the summer of our Junior Year. Brad, always a proper gentleman, actually came to the door at Kate's parents' house. Neither John nor Chris have any recollection of this, but Brad swears it happened. The twist is that Kate had a boyfriend at the time and thought she was going to dinner with her friend. Brad, on the other hand, was interested in Kate romantically, but didn't make a move. The story could have ended there, but alas, 14 years later, the two re-met on Bumble (the online dating site where the girl has to make the first move). Now it was Kate's turn to make the first move, and here we are...

Kate and Brad were off to Kauai for their first big tropical vacation. Everyone thought that Brad was going to pop the question on the romantic beaches, but Brad wanted to make it a surprise and Kauai was just too obvious of a choice. Meanwhile, Kate was constantly questioning when it was going to happen (she doesn't do well when she's not the one making the plans). The weekend they got back, Brad said he was planning a surprise lunch date and while many might think this would have given it away, Kate had no idea. They got in an Uber to the surprise destination, ending up in Kate's hometown, Oakland, at Cactus Taqueria (the very spot that their first "date" occurred back in 2004). This was an incredibly sweet gesture in itself, but Kate had no idea that she was in for way more than just tacos and beer. After posing for a few selfies outside the restaurant, Brad started mumbling sweet nothings about love and the crazy way that life works and before Kate knew it, he was down on one knee popping the question. The details of what was said were fuzzy, but luckily Brad's good friend, Vince and his fiancee Pega, were across the street snapping photos (700 of them) of the entire proposal! They then went down the street for a celebratory drink, only to find another surprise - all of their family and closest friends waiting at the bar for a party. Brad nailed it.
