We’re getting married!

We met in the Abercrombie & Fitch in New Jersey’s Monmouth Mall, where Kalushus used to work. Angel was at Fort Monmouth Prep School before attending West Point. Angel walked in with friends...wearing sunglasses! You could tell he was not from around there. When checking out Angel pulled out an Abercrombie & Fitch card to get the lovely discount. He worked for them as well, modeling in California. Standing at the counter he slowly took off his sunglasses. “I am Angel Santiago, I modeled for A&F back home,” he said. Kalushus looked up from folding clothes and just laughed. She passed everyone their bags. Last to walk away was Angel, putting on his sunglasses and telling her “Have a good day”. When Kalushus got off that night, she looked his name up on Facebook. Little did they know, it would end up being a great day! A friend request...and a decade later. Here we are! If you were to mention it to him, Angel would still call it “stalking”. Hahah!

As many of you know, one of Angel’s personality traits is selflessness; and his wedding proposal to Kalushus was no different. When she asked Angel what he wanted for his 28th birthday; his reply was simple, “I would want a surprise party and all my family and friends be there, I have never had a surprise party." So, naturally Kalushus worked hard to make his birthday memorable by throwing him a surprise party! With loads of help from family, she pulled it off! Family and friends from all over, travelled to Savannah for his surprise party… but little did Kalushus know that it was her turn to be surprised. As they stood in front of the room and thanked everyone for coming. Angel took a moment to "brag about her a little bit" and let everyone know that his party was a testament of Kalushus’ love for him. Towards the end of his speech, she went in to give him a hug at the same time he was saying, "…couldn't think of a better person to spend the rest of his life with," and he began to get on one knee! Angel chose to ask for a surprise birthday party so he could actually propose in front of all their family and friends. Selfless is he who makes HIS BIRTHDAY celebration about the woman he loves! There’s a future Mrs. Santiago!
