On April 4, 2020, our lives changed forever with a simple swipe. It was the very start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Remember when everyone thought COVID would only be around long enough to ruin Spring Break and then it would be a thing of the past? Little did we know that in our free time of quarantine, we each decided to download the dating app, Bumble, and swipe right on each other. We messaged back and forth and because of our mutual taste in music, it was an instant connection. On April 16, 2020 we met for the first time in person for a "socially-distanced date." We went for a walk at sunset on the beautiful Dike's at Clemson. We talked long into the night and eventually traded numbers. We always say that if it was not for COVID, we never would have met or been able to connect so authentically from the beginning!

In August of 2021, we were able to plan a trip to Jamaica for a week, around the time of Kaity's birthday. Kaity was finally able to meet Zico's family, experience his hometown, and see all the places where he grew up! On August 8th, 2021 at sunset on the beaches of Ocho Rios, Jamaica, in a private moment with just the two of us; Zico got down on one knee and asked Kaity to spend the rest of her life with him. Of course, Kaity said "Yes!"
