Kaitlyn and Ty’s story started the modern way — with a match on Hinge. Ty planned their first date at McMenamins in Tacoma, enjoying a dinner with a nice waterfront view. Kaitlyn and Ty hit it off immediately; what was meant to be a casual dinner turned into three hours of conversation, laughter, and bonding over their love for the Seahawks. From that first date, they knew they had something special. Their early days were full of fun adventures: a Seattle Kraken game, a memorable Topgolf outing where Ty had to help Kaitlyn with her swing, and a very stormy day at the Puyallup Spring Fair. Kaitlyn also quickly discovered one of the perks of dating a pilot — Ty always brought airline snacks. A few months in, Ty asked Kaitlyn to be his girlfriend during a sunset picnic along Lake Washington in Kirkland. Shortly after, during a busy 4th of July weekend, they visited both of their hometowns and met each other’s families. For the next year and a half, they became very familiar with I-405 and 167 while commuting between Kirkland and Puyallup before Ty eventually moved down south to Sumner. The drive was a grind, but they made so many special memories along the way. They bonded over Seattle sports, traveling, long walks, time with friends and family, and, of course, Kaitlyn’s cat, Scout. Their connection was so in sync, they even got each other the exact same card for their one-year anniversary. This past Thanksgiving, Ty joined Kaitlyn’s family tradition of going to a Christmas tree farm. Little did Kaitlyn know, he had a surprise up his sleeve. At the tree farm, Ty got down on one knee and proposed in front of her entire family! Kaitlyn and Ty are beyond excited to get married this August and celebrate their love with all the important people in their lives.
