We were on our way to the Outer Banks for a weeklong trip with Peter’s family. We left home before sunrise, and as the sun came up over the beach, Peter got down on one knee with just the two of us there. It was perfect. Since we couldn’t check into the house for a few more hours, I suggested grabbing breakfast, but Peter insisted we drive by the house first. When we arrived, I was completely surprised to see that my parents had rented the house directly across the street. I walked inside and found my grandparents waiting there, and moments later my best friend walked in too. I tried to FaceTime my brother, but he declined and texted that he was hunting, which was not unusual at all, so I didn’t think twice about it. Then, to my absolute shock, he walked up the stairs holding my sweet niece, Georgia. If you know me, you know I’m incredibly hard to surprise, but somehow they pulled it off. It was better than anything I could've imagined.
