We met at our first high school football game in 2017 at Lakeland High School. Kaitlyn thought Luke was cute, and Luke thought Kaitlyn was sweet. We had no idea as freshmen that our story would become something so beautiful. As we grew up and faced different challenges, we never lost contact. Even after seven years of not being together, the connection between us never faded. When Kaitlyn came out of a long relationship and Luke ended one as well, he knew it was the right moment to reach out. After waiting and hoping she would post something, he finally sent a simple message: “Hey, what gym do you go to?” That question started everything. From our first time hanging out after seven years apart, we both felt something special. The rest was guided by the Lord. We spent months in a long distance relationship, and it strengthened our trust in each other and in God. Our relationship has not always been easy, but it has always been a blessing. We encourage each other to grow into who God has called us to be and to love with the heart of Jesus. We have faced many obstacles, but none have been too big with the help of faith, community, and God’s grace. As our story continues, we know we would not be here without prayer, faith, strength, humility, forgiveness, and love. We love each other more every day and we cannot wait to see how God works through our marriage.
