FAQs

Question

Will there be a rafting trip?

Answer

We wish. Sadly, there is too much coordination and gear hauling required to make a day on the water possible. Let's go boating soon!

Question

Will the river be safe to swim in adjacent to Camp Lotus?

Answer

TBD. During fish flows (when water is not being released) and normal summer flows (~1500 CFS), there is a large pool adjacent to Camp Lotus. However, if winter starts to kick it up a notch, the river might be higher in early May. Water safety—and close adult supervision of small children—will be very important throughout the weekend.

Question

What should I wear to the wedding?

Answer

You do you boo. However, we would greatly appreciate a semi-formalish vibe (dresses, slacks/blazers, smart shoe choices for grass, etc.).

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

We are hoping for a nice 75-80 degree warm day so hopefully Mother Nature delivers. That said, May can be warm or decide to rain (for good luck) so please plan accordingly.

Question

Do I need to pay to camp before arrival?

Answer

No, but please let us know if you do intend to camp so we can ensure that enough sites are reserved. There is an office on site where you will pay upon arrival.

Question

Are dogs allowed?

Answer

No. Camp Lotus does not allow dogs unless there are special circumstances. If you have a need to bring your animal, please call Camp Lotus directly (530) 622-8672.

Question

Is everyone invited to the welcome dinner?

Answer

YES! JAH Cowboy—also known as the father of the bride or Papa John—will be firing up chicken in the barrel. The more the merrier! Please be sure to note it on your RSVP so we plan enough food. We also will be celebrating James' 13th birthday.

Question

What time is the ceremony?

Answer

3:30 PM sharp. The bride and groom take punctuality seriously, so arrive by about 3:00 PM to grab a drink, mingle, and get settled before things kick off.

Question

Are my kids invited?

Answer

We are a little tight on our head count/Camp Lotus guest limits, but if they were not listed on the invitation and you want to bring them please reach out! We want to include everyone and will do our best to ensure that.

Question

Is there potable water at Camp Lotus?

Answer

Yes!!! Please bring a re-usable water bottle. We would love to cut down on plastic waste but will still have limited bottled water just in case.

Question

Will my cell phone work in Lotus/Coloma?

Answer

Yes. Gone are the days of having to bring my Verizon work phone to Coloma—now both AT&T and Verizon have reception.

Question

If I am not staying onsite, will there be a shuttle?

Answer

No. Please make sure you have a designated driver if you plan to indulge in adult beverages—or better yet, camp! It’ll be cheaper and more fun. If you are staying in Placerville, Lyft or Uber might be a possibility getting to the venue but not guaranteed getting back unless you schedule it ahead of time.

Question

Do I need to wait for the “formal” invite to RSVP?

Answer

No! I just figured out how to enable the RSVP function so accept away!

Question

I have a question that is not listed, what should I do?

Answer

Reach out! It might be such a great question that we end up adding it to this FAQ.
