Kaitlyn and Evan met the modern way — by swiping right on Hinge. Their first date was in Ft. Worth, TX, where Evan was living while working remote and Kaitlyn was a pediatric nurse. The first date lasted hours, as they hit it off instantly. Evan vividly remembers her wearing a green dress (that has yet to be found). After a few months of knowing each other, Evan moved to Denver to work as a CPA (woo hoo, he passed his test!). Throughout the next year, they learned more about themselves and each other as they navigated long-distance. Fortunately, they were able to visit each other frequently! They spent time together taking trips to visit family, the mountains in Colorado, and exploring the new city where they would both eventually live. Kaitlyn shared her love of games with Evan, and now they have a running tally of Monopoly Deal wins (Kaitlyn – 29, Evan – 18). After a year of long distance, Kaitlyn took the plunge and bravely moved to Denver. Both Evan and Kaitlyn started new jobs, jumped into a community that feels like family, and found a church home in the heart of Denver. It only took a few short months of Kailyn living in Denver for Evan to know she was the one. After a surprise visit to St. Louis to ask Kaitlyn’s dad for his blessing, Evan bought a ring and began planning a proposal of epic proportions. His family flew to Denver as he planned to propose while her mom and sister were in town visiting. Under the Larimer Square lights, Evan dropped down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together. The rest of the night was spent celebrating their engagement with friends and family. On November 19, 2023, surrounded by family and friends, Kaitlyn and Evan will write a new chapter as they exchange their vows and commit the rest of their lives to each other.
