Ed decided to take Kaitlyn to the riverwalk in Downtown Wilmington. But as soon as they got there, it started pouring rain. They took their shoes off and made a run for the gazebo where it was dry. They drank wine under the stars as they looked at Downtown Wilmington's city lights and watched the rain fall into the Cape Fear river. They talked about their childhood, future dreams, and everything in between for five hours without a moment of silence. After that, they were inseparable.

Ed took Kaitlyn to a resort in Cancun to celebrate finishing her first year of Physician Assistant School. After dinner one night Ed and Kaitlyn were sitting on their balcony, admiring the sunset over the beautiful Caribbean Sea, when Ed got down on one knee and asked Kaitlyn to spend forever with him. The moment she said yes, fireworks lit the sky behind Ed. It was an evening they will always remember.
