How They Met - by Matchmaker and Bridesmaid Mary Scala

First comes bluegrass concert, then comes...a lifetime!

Sometimes you find love at first sight and then sometimes a friend finds it for you. Ed was the first friend I made in Austin and Kaitlyn ended up being the last one I made before I left. Two perfect bookends to my time in Austin, and as fate would have it, they turned out to be soulmates. I met Ed on the very first day I moved to Austin. I wasn’t but two loads into moving things out of the U-Haul into my new apartment when I was met by his big, warm smile and the most genuine offer to help move (many) heavy boxes into a stranger's home. Our friendship started there and has spanned many years, beers, concerts, festivals and even a shared home. Years later I met Kaitlyn. It was an early “winters” evening in Austin when, barefoot and a glass of wine in hand with my dog I saw a fellow curly haired, barefoot, wine drinking dog mom. Meeting Kaitlyn for the first time, she was so full of energy and excitement, it felt more like two long time friends from a different life catching up. I couldn’t stop thinking “damn, I’m talking to Ed Carr’s wife.” I wish I could take credit for these two humans meeting and falling in love, but I believe regardless of me connecting them, Kaitlyn and Ed would have found each other. The universe would have made sure of it. When they first met, they both felt something. Ed: “Mary wasn’t kidding, she’s amazing!” Kaitlyn: “I was immediately attracted to him and I thought, I bet he can two-step.” It’ll shock no one that the first two-stepping date didn’t go perfectly. But it was good enough to soon get Ed an invite to Kaitlyn’s best friend’s wedding in Minnesota. “...And that's when I knew I was with my person,” Kaitlyn says. That dance and that adventure were the firsts of many more. Now they are asking friends and family to come together to celebrate this improbable, inevitable, incredible fairy tale love come true. Kaitlyn and Ed- I am honored to have a little piece to do with your love story. Cheer to a lifetime of adventures!
