Pikes Peak is the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in North America at 14,115-foot fourteener. You can either take the scenic route via car to the top or book a ticket on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Tickets on the Cog Railway are in high demand, so be sure to book ASAP if you are interested! When you get to the top, enjoy 365 degree views and enjoy some of the best donuts in Colorado Springs at the new Pikes Peak Visitors Center.
This is a must-see in Colorado Springs! And it's free :) Garden of the Gods is a popular natural landmark nestled at the foot of Pikes Peak on the west side of Colorado Springs. Known for its massive red rocks sticking straight out of the ground, tourists come from all over the world to wander the trails, see the wildlife and witness the formations for themselves.
Visit the Broadmoor to get a taste of our local 5-star, 5-diamond resort. A few of our favorite things to do at the Broadmoor include grabbing an espresso martini from the Bar by the Lake, Sunday Brunch, walking the Hall of Fame in the West Wing, and grabbing a yard of beer at the Golden Bee while enjoying the dueling pianos. There's something for everyone at the Broadmoor including bowling, indoor/outdoor pools, and more. It's free for anyone to visit even if you're not a guest of the resort, so be sure to stop on by!
The Air Force Academy is located just north of Colorado Springs and near our venue. It has some of the best view in the area and one of the most stunning Chapels. Visits are welcome on base to explore the campus, which sits on more than 18,500 acres along the front range. Other activities on base include the planetarium, hiking and biking trails, and visiting Falcon Stadium.
One of our favorite events of the year is Moonlight Mountain at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo or "Drunk at the Zoo" as Norm likes to call it (LOL), and the place Chris asked me to be his girlfriend in 2015. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is the best zoo in the county and is America's only mountain zoo. Ranked as one of the top zoos in the country by USA Today 10Best and TripAdvisor, you’ll get to explore newly renovated and award-winning exhibits. Experience a zoo like no other, on a mountainside overlooking Colorado Springs. Discover more than 30 species of endangered animals. Interact with our giraffes and don’t miss the chance to hand-feed them! Soar over your favorite animal exhibits and take in breathtaking views of the city below on the Mountaineer Sky Ride.
Originally an elementary school built in 1916, Ivywild School was closed in 2009. It was shortly thereafter that the wheels started turning and the idea to move the 18-year old Bristol Brewery over to the space, along with a bakery, espresso/cocktail bar, delicatessen and office space, started to take shape. Now visitors can enjoy craft beers, a local whiskey distillery, the best Moscow mule in town, and awesome food!
Manitou Springs is a resort city in Colorado, just outside Colorado Springs. It’s known for its mineral springs and mountain landscapes, dominated by soaring Pikes Peak. The Manitou Cliff Dwellings are a group of reassembled ancient cliff structures and is home to Cave of the Winds. Hundreds of steps lead up a steep slope on the Manitou Incline Trail. Manitou Avenue is home to art galleries and specialty boutiques.
Hike at your own risk!! The Manitou Incline gains nearly 2,000 feet of elevation over less than 1 mile. It's not for the faint of heart, but people from all walks (or climbs) of life have successfully conquered it. It is, perhaps, the most unique and challenging trail in the country, attracting runners, military, Olympic athletes, and hiking enthusiasts from around the world. More than anything, the Manitou Incline is famous for dishing out a tough workout.
Another favorite event of ours and one of our first dates, was Territory Days, a street festival over Memorial Day Weekend in Old Colorado City. Enjoy shopping, lots of great restaurants and even pop into Alchemy (Irish Pub) or Mother Muffs for a drink. In busy Old Colorado City, galleries and quaint gift stores cluster alongside jewelers, candy shops, and tattoo parlors in 19th-century brick buildings along Colorado Avenue. Dining options range from American eateries to Italian trattorias and Greek tavernas. The Old Colorado City History Center Museum has exhibits on early pioneer settlement, and Simpich Showcase features puppet productions and a folk doll museum.
