We figured with our out of town friends coming to visit family that planning around the holiday would limit the strain of travelling extra just for us.

Yes and no, we wanted to spend our money on the more fun part of weddings, the reception! We consider this celebration the "wedding" even though there won't be a ceremony. It's a time for us to celebrate and enjoy with the people we love with minimal stress.
