Trevor was visiting family in Dubuque, Iowa and Kaitlyn was home for Christmas break in Lena. They were both swiping left and right on tinder hoping to find a match. December 23, 2017 Trevor and Kaitlyn matched and Trevor wasted no time messaging Kaitlyn not only on Tinder, but also Instagram. Kaitlyn responded the next day and the two began texting all day every day and even began facetiming and talking on the phone. January 18, 2018 (a day before Kaitlyn was expecting Trevor) Trevor surprised Kaitlyn at Western Illinois University. Unfortunately, he was at the wrong building and car when he facetimed Kaitlyn to let her know that "surprise" he was in Macomb. He quickly got in his car and drove to the correct building to pick Kaitlyn up to look for parking. The two returned to Kaitlyn's room where they spent the night talking and being in awe that they were finally together. That weekend Kaitlyn showed Trevor around Macomb and took him to all her favorite spots to eat. The weekend went by far to fast. The next weekend, Kaitlyn made her first trip to Iowa and that weekend Trevor finally asked Kaitlyn to be his girlfriend (January 27, 2018). The two quickly introduced each other to their families and began spending every chance they could together.

In May of 2019, Kaitlyn and Trevor took their first big vacation together down to Mexico with Kaitlyn's family. To get the ring down to Mexico without letting Kaitlyn know, Trevor had Kaitlyn's mother wear the ring through airport security. Kaitlyn did not make the exchange to get the ring back to Trevor easy though because well she was attached to Trevor's hip. Tuesday night, while hanging out in Kaitlyn's parents room, Kaitlyn was distracted enough by her niece that her mother was able to slip Trevor the ring. That night Trevor made this big obsession about wanting to go watch the sunrise the next morning. After some convincing, Kaitlyn finally agreed to wake up early and dress somewhat decent. The two made the early morning walk down to the beach, but unfortunately the clouds did not want to cooperate and prevented the two from viewing the sunrise. After sitting down watching the ocean come in and out, Trevor finally told Kaitlyn that he had something to make the situation all worth it and proceeded to get down on one knee and asked Kaitlyn to marry him. Kaitlyn, absolutely shocked but so happy the moment had finally arrived, said yes without hesitation! The two are so excited to take the next step in their life and begin their new chapter as Husband and Wife. We cannot wait to see everyone in Des Moines, Iowa!
