Question

What hotel should I stay at in Varese?

Answer

There are several hotel and airbnb options in Varese, however we recommend staying at Grand Palace Hotel. There will be shuttles from Villa Montalbano to the hotel after the wedding ends. Please visit the Travel tab to book your room with the discount code and see more details.

Question

What kind of transportation is there in Varese?

Answer

Varese is very walkable and there are lots of taxis. Taxis are very easy to take during the day, but if you need a taxi at night, you will need to schedule one in advance with the hotel. There is also the train station, Varese Nord, which you can take to Laveno for the Sail party as well as to get to Milan.

The ceremony begins at 5:00. We suggest arriving at 4:30 to ensure ample time to walk up to the villa, enjoy the music and scenery and find a seat.

Question

This is my first time in Italy! What do I need to know!

Answer

Welcome, you are going to love it here! While it is easy to get around, we have a few pointers! Most places take credit card, but it doesn't hurt to have some euros on hand for tips and cafes. You can order these from your bank before you depart. Make sure you order a large bottle of water at restaurants. They will not serve free water at restaurants, so you'll need to order a bottle separately. Pack comfortable shoes! You will do lots of walking in Italy, especially on cobblestone streets. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended. Great way to get your steps in while enjoying the scenery :) Ladies, you may want to consider a block heel vs. stilettos for the wedding as the Villa has some grass and pebbles. You will need to pack an outlet adapter to charge your phone. You can find these easily on Amazon. Europe does not run on the same voltage as the US so any devices need to be dual voltage. Do not plug in devices into the outlet adapter if they are not dual voltage, they will fry. Ladies, it is recommended to use hair tools that are dual voltage. Check your current tools, but there are several affordable flat/curling irons on Amazon. Italians are very friendly and many speak great English! However, it helps to learn a few greeting phrases :)
