Tyler and I decided to take a vacation before the rush of the holiday season (shop local!) and to celebrate 7 years together. On Halloween 2014, after several shots of tequila, I told him he was really cute and he grabbed my face and said “you’re soooo pretty!” The rest is, as they say, history. This Halloween, we walked all over Rome hoping to go to the Trevi Fountain. Every road leading up to the Trevi was blocked off. Damn G20 summit. I was telling Tyler not to worry, everything in Rome is gorgeous and we’d do our travel pictures at another spot and hit the Trevi later. We met up with Kathryn, our photographer, and chatted over espresso and croissants. She said I should pop to the ladies. I thought I had powdered sugar on me ( I did) but that wasn’t the whole story. We walked to the Pantheon and she explained the history while taking photos. Then of to Piazza Navona. We sat by the fountain and Tyler was a bit nervous. Like, very nervous. Then he handed me a little book titled Roman Holiday ~ my favorite movie. It’s a story of a girl who works in a bookshop on a plaza. She loves her job and the readers she meets and coworkers who become family. At this job she meets a boy who becomes her best friend. Together they read, travel and live happily ever after. Or, that’s the question posed. “Katie, will you marry me?” Dear reader, I said yes.
