Our Love Story

Max became Catholic on Easter Vigil of 2024. One day in December 2024, he met with the Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Tulsa about discerning his vocation. Later that evening, he attended a Catholic Young Adults event for our diocese. Kaitlin came up to Max's table and introduced herself to all the men sitting at the table and was advertising how her parish was trying to start a singles ministry. She also proceeded to tell them about how she was trying to start a praise & worship night for youth in the diocese but was struggling to find singers and musicians willing to help. Max told Kaitlin that he plays guitar, so Kaitlin got his phone number from him. The event never got off the ground, so Kaitlin never contacted Max. A month later, Max, after a particularly hard weekend at work, decided to go to the 5 PM Mass at St. Anne's, which is the Mass time he never attended. He was praying about what vocation God wanted him to pursue (priesthood or marriage) and whether or not he should ask Kaitlin out on a date, when all of the sudden he looked up and Kaitlin was handing him the collection basket while ushering (another sign from God). A couple weeks later, Max and Kaitlin started attending the same Bible Study at church. Kaitlin then proceeded to text Max and ask him to volunteer at youth group as we were desperate for volunteers. Max happily agreed to, and Kaitlin spent the whole evening setting up with Max prior to the event complaining about how awful online dating is and how hard it is to meet single Catholic men in our church. Max took it as a hint, and a few days later he asked Kaitlin out after Bible Study ended. They went on their first date on February 5, 2025 and got engaged 7 weeks later on March 25, 2025.
