One probably never expects to find love in a bar, least of all in Hershey, Pennsylvania. But that's where our story began. In a small bar in middle-of-nowhere, PA. As a west coast transplant, I was just doing my best to fit in and find friends among my new medical school colleagues. Classes had officially begun and, with it being the first weekend of the academic year, many of us were looking for a way to celebrate. A number of us ended up at a small and seedy local watering hole: the Gas Station. Let's be clear, it's not the kind of place you think of if you're looking for good beer or food. But we were aspiring young professionals looking for cheap fun, so it fit the bill. Kaitlin definitely knew what she was getting into when her college friend invited her out. Having been a nursing student in Hershey, and now a full-fledged RN with a year of experience under her belt, she'd seen many medical students come and go. Despite knowing better, she came along for a bit of the fun. Following an introduction by mutual friends, Kaitlin offered to buy me my first Yuengling. This beer, needless to say, turned out to be the first of many beers we've shared over the last 7 years. As our love and relationship have grown, so has our taste in beer, I'm glad to say! Looking forward to the next chapter in our lives, we are glad to have each other as best friends, life-time companions and good drinking buddies. Above of all, we are truly excited to call each other "Husband and Wife."
As many of you may have heard, we officially tied the knot on 9/19/20! We were very lucky to have a supportive group of friends in Cleveland put together a small (COVID-compliant) backyard wedding. While we were able to celebrate with our immediate family, many important people in our lives were missing. We are certainly looking forward to renewing our vows and celebrating with you all this coming September!
