In April of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic began to change daily life, we were both sophomores in college unexpectedly sent home from our universities. During that uncertain time, we each joined Bumble and on April 8, 2020, we matched. After a few conversations, we decided to meet in the most fitting way the moment allowed: a McDonald’s drive-thru for McFlurries. Drake ordered Oreo, while Kait opted for extra M&M’s. With the world largely shut down, options were limited, but the connection was immediate. What began as a simple parking-lot meet-up quickly turned into meaningful conversations and a growing bond. As restrictions eased, we returned to our college lives Kait to Cal State Fullerton and Drake to Cal Poly Pomona and continuing to build our relationship across campuses and miles. That August, Drake officially asked Kait out with flowers, a thoughtful card, and a light-up swan paddle boat. From there, we continued dating throughout college and into post-graduate life, supporting one another every step of the way and becoming each other’s biggest cheerleaders. Drake built his career in construction management, while Kait pursued her master’s degree in education and began teaching. Along the way, we bought a home together and made it a priority to travel whenever we could. On one of those travels, our story reached a new chapter in Iceland. We got engaged on Diamond Beach just as the sun was rising, with black sand and glistening ice stretching as far as we could see. The beach looked especially breathtaking that morning, one of those rare moments when everything aligns perfectly. It may have been freezing, but it was unforgettable. We’re so excited to continue this adventure together and can’t wait to celebrate with the people who have supported and loved us along the way. #PaskvanParty
