Kaitlin and I meeting had to have been fate; we had several mutual friends, we were always at the same functions and the same college bars. However, we did not meet until the last day of classes, at a bar known for its late-night tater tots and wings. Kaitlin and I instantly hit it off. Kaitlin thought she was funny by talking in a terrible British accent, little did she know I spent ten years in England. I remember the early days when Kaitlin wanted me to listen to all her favorite songs, try her not-so-good healthy dinners, and all of the endless laughter when we were together. After four months of dating, we transitioned to long-distance while I finished school in Germany. Kaitlin made sure to call me every single solitary day before I went to sleep, which helped the time go by. When I got back to the United States, I was offered a job in Winston-Salem. At the time, neither of us had spent any time in the Triad area, and it wasn’t a city we initially wanted to move to as post-grads. I spent hours thinking about how I would ask Kaitlin to move with me and all of the possible objections she may have. Thankfully, when I did finally ask, it was almost as quick as the “yes” when I asked her to marry me. For those of you that know Kaitlin, you know how caring, selfless, and outright beautiful she is. I always come home to a smiling face no matter how hard or long of a day she had. There is never a dull moment when we are together, and I can't wait to say I do in front of all the special people in our lives.
