Kaitlin and Cal’s story began in Stillwater when they both found themselves on the Oklahoma State University livestock judging team. What started as a casual conversation at a sheep judging workout quickly turned into a strong friendship throughout college. After graduation, their paths took them in different directions. Kaitlin moved to Washington D.C. to work for a congressman while Cal stayed in the midwest to pursue his master’s degree at OSU and serve as the assistant livestock judging coach at Butler Community College. About a year after graduation, they started to realize they might be more than just friends. Determined to see where things could go, Cal got on a flight bound to D.C. for their first date: pizza and McDonald’s drinks enjoyed together at the Lincoln Memorial. It was simple, unforgettable and the beginning of something much bigger. They continued dating long distance until Cal accepted the livestock judging coach position at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Just two months later, Kaitlin made the move to Lincoln to join him. In March 2025, Cal proposed in Kaitlin’s living room before heading out to church one Sunday morning. Today, they are excited to see what the future holds and look forward to celebrating with close friends and family.
