Kaitlin and Andrew met at country night at Pave when Andrew asked Kaitlin to dance, and they haven’t really stopped since. What started as one dance quickly turned into lessons, late nights, and a shared love for the dance floor. Not long after, Andrew planned their first date at the Butterfly House in Sioux Falls. At the time, it felt simple, but it quickly became a place that would hold some of their most meaningful memories. Soon after, Andrew surprised Kaitlin with a picnic in the daisy field behind the Butterfly House and asked her to be his girlfriend. From that moment on, life stayed busy in the best way — filled with work, dancing, and building a life together. As dancing became such a big part of their lives, they officially named the company they built together: The Dancing Byrds. In April 2025, Andrew planned his biggest surprise yet and brought Kaitlin back to the Butterfly Garden. With the help of a close friend, Kaitlin was picked up from work, got her hair and makeup done, and was driven back to the daisy field. Because of construction, she walked part of the way down a wooded path in heels with her eyes closed, trusting Andrew completely and having no idea what was waiting. At the end of the path, a “Marry Me” sign lined with tea lights was set along the bridge. Kaitlin cried, laughed, and said, “I’m a fiancée,” before turning to see her parents and close friends there to celebrate. From trips to California and visits to Disney, to concerts and rodeos, their relationship has grown through the experiences they’ve shared. Dancing is still at the center of it all, including Andrew learning Beseda, a traditional Czech dance that is deeply meaningful to Kaitlin, just to make sure she would always have a partner. Some of their favorite moments are the simple ones — hockey games, quiet nights, and playing video games side by side. And this is only the beginning of their story.
