Our Story

Steven and Kaitlin met at a UMC church retreat called "Methodist Madness" back in 7th grade at Eagle Eyrie in Lynchburg, VA. Our youth groups were in cabins next to each other and a few of us including Kaitlin's matron of honor, Erin, snuck out of the cabin to walk the campus! Kaitlin and Erin came back the next year as Staff for the youth retreat and Steven's youth group also came back again. We got to know each other through middle school fun, vespers, and jokes about how Kaitlin didn't like Steven's shoes (typical middle school flirting)! As the years went by, Kaitlin's mom got remarried to her step dad, Rhodes, and moved to Portsmouth, VA. She began her role as Youth Director at St. Andrew's UMC where Steven's mom was the Pastor! We got to know and love each other again through our local, district, and state Youth Group and began dating our senior year of High School. We went off to Randolph-Macon College our freshman year together and as most college relationships do---timing was just not right for us so we took a LONG break....a SEVEN YEAR break! We remained friends and would keep in touch over the years. Our lives reconnected in 2017 when Steven asked Kaitlin to go on a ski trip to Whitetail Resort in Pennsylvania. We took it very slow and began dating again in 2018. We truly believe that God's timing is always perfect and He brought us back together----this time though, FOREVER. In true form, Steven asked Kaitlin to marry him on September 2, 2019 after Skydiving out of a plane for his 30th Birthday with her great grandmother's ring that had been passed down as a family heirloom. Two months later, they moved to Colorado and are starting their lives together!
