Kaitlin and James met literally on the spot where the photo above was taken, lining up in the lobby to get into the 'Mr. Purple' rooftop bar (now our wedding venue!). First impressions were that James thought Kaitlin was a trendy, sassy, Lower East Side local (correct), annoyed to be having to queue to get into the bar (also correct). Kaitlin thought James was a 'finance douchebag' (incorrect!). James approached with the stellar first line: "Do you know what's going on upstairs?". Luckily Kaitlin did know - there was a delay on entry because a Mr. Purple patron had vomited somewhere in the bar, and they were busy cleaning it up. A lengthy long-distance relationship followed their meeting, with Kaitlin then making the huge move over to join James in Australia (aussie aussie aussie!). On a return trip to the States, James shocked Kaitlin with his marriage proposal, back in New York, again on the spot where they met, the lobby of Mr. Purple! James got on bended knee, produced a ring box, and (keeping to the New York theme) opened the ring box to produce a pretzel! (Kaitlin loves pretzels.) Kaitlin immediately snatched the pretzel and ate it, confirming her acceptance! (Don't worry girls, the actual engagement ring followed back in Australia, as selected by Kaitlin..)
