Kait and Nick met while attending Ohio State University. Kait needed a date for one of her sorority date parties, and one of her friends claimed that she knew the perfect guy for her. Although Kait may have been skeptical at first, the random set up worked, and the two spent the remainder of the semester sharing their time together. Most of their early relationship was spent apart. The summer after meeting, Kait interned in London, England for three months, while Nick relocated to Miami, Florida for his internship. After the Fall semester that followed, Nick graduated and temporarily moved home to Milwaukee while Kait finished up her degree in Columbus.

After Kait graduated in the Spring of 2018, the two took a monumental step in their relationship when they decided to spend six weeks together backpacking through Southeast Asia. Anyone who knows Kait would have thought that she stood no chance living out of a backpack for a month and a half, but she thrived and their relationship became stronger with each adventure. All in all, the two visted four countries and 20 cities over the course of 50 days. The couple knew that their relationship was special when they made it through their adventure without any arguements. At the conclusion of the trip, it was time to enter the real world to start their careers. After a few months together in Asia, it was back to long distance. Kait moved to Cincinnati and Nick moved back to Columbus.

After living an hour and a half away from each other, someone needed to make a decision to relocate. With the onset of the Pandemic, Nick was able to move down to Cincinnati while maintaining his current job, and after what seemed like a lifetime, the two were finally together! Nick became an extra roommate at Kait's apartment for a month until they signed a lease for their own place in August 2020. Fast foward a few months, and Nick had a new job and Nick and Kait adopted Winston, their long-haired mini Dachshund!

Nick had been planning to pop the question for the better part of 2021. He knew that Thanksgiving was Kait's favorite holiday, and that it held a special place in her heart. Kait's parents came to Cincinnati to visit in August, and Nick shared his intentions with them. They were thrilled to have him join the family, and started planning the engagement immediately. Nick proposed the Saturday after Thanksgiving at the country club that Kait's family belongs to. Not even the Buckeyes losing to Michigan earlier in the afternoon could ruin the vibes. Nick's mom was able to make the trip to Cleveland, along with Kait's sister, Madison. It was an unforgettable evening thanks to the friends and family that were able to share in the celebration.
