We met in the summer of 2013 at Lutheran High Summer Camp. Dawson was the head camp counselor and I was a Junior counselor! All summer Dawson seemed to be "picking" on me when it came to doing things with the kids. For example, he once made me skate with the kids knowing that I'm not the best on wheels lol. I noticed quickly that he seemed to always be around my group or riding my bus on field trips. Fast forward to the fall, he slid into my DM's and the rest is history.
Through the years we made it a tradition every fall to go to my favorite place from when I was younger, which is The Great Pumpkin Patch in Arthur, IL. Every year that we went the more my heart grew for this place and being able to share the love with Dawson and our family. Our 2018 trip seemed no different than the years past, we just added a few more people to join in on the memories. We made our traditional trip to Boones Brunch before hitting the road to Arthur. We did our normal photo shoot in front of the mums, got our trip in around the petting zoo, and the headed towards the patch. Looking back, I now realize how weird Dawson was acting when we were picking pumpkins, as he was having me go look at the ugliest ones and I swear we walked ALL over that patch. He then told me to go pick this pumpkin that was in the middle of the field and he was following, when I turned around to tell him about the pumpkin he was down on one knee. At that moment, everything else just became a blur, and he was the only still image I could see. After five years of dating he asked me to marry him, he then told me to turn around where I saw both our families standing witness to the most precious moment. I think of that day often leading up to our wedding day, knowing that this yes will make him forever mine.
Over the next few weeks as we make tough decisions about our big day we want to express that we appreciate all the support and patience given during this time. We will update this page as soon as we have a better grasp on what our big day will now look like.
