Kaitlyn and Collin met when they were 14 and 16 years old. On one of Collin's Friday night hang outs, Kaitlyn tagged along with mutual friends to Collin's parents' house. They continued to hang out with friends for a few months. At Collin's parents' New Year's Eve party in 2012, Collin and Kaitlyn spent the night playing Jenga and ping pong together. This was the night Kaitlyn realized she had a crush on Collin. They started talking more, snapchatting, and continued hanging out with friends. In April 2013, Collin finally got Kaitlyn's number. A few months later, following a very romantic double date with Collin's parents, Collin asked Kaitlyn, "do you want me to ask you out?" She replied with, "you might want to try that again!" He flipped her claddagh ring around on June 8, 2013 and the rest is history!

On a weekend getaway for Kaitlyn's birthday, Collin treated Kaitlyn to a stay at Mount Washington in New Hampshire. After a sweaty hike by a beautiful waterfall, Kaitlyn and Collin explored the resort. While taking in the breathtaking White Mountains on the veranda, Collin said, "I can't promise you a wedding here, but I can do this here." Collin got down on one knee and asked Kaitlyn to marry him. She started crying, blacked out, and ultimately said YES! They spent the evening calling family and friends with the good news!
