We're having a small, intimate ceremony in August with Andrew's family. His parents live in the beautiful countryside of Oregon City, and we'll be tying the knot under the apple tree in their backyard.
We're having our reception a month later in California so we can gather Kaitlin's friends and family together to celebrate. That's where you come in!
Kaitlin and Andrew met in a design class at Portland Community College and got their start with walks to the library, art lectures, zine design, and printer problems. Andrew was the studious and serious type, and Kaitlin immediately wanted to "bring him out of his shell." She constantly chatted with him and distracted him in class. After class she would go to the library to wait for her bus, and Andrew started walking her there. One night in class they went to a Carolee Schneemann lecture and bonded as she talked a great deal about cats and feminist art. The final project involved printing pages and pages of zines that they had designed, and Andrew was complaining that his printer wasn't working. Kaitlin had just gotten a new printer, so she offered to loan him her old one. He politely accepted her old, inkless printer and made a mental note that he now had a "reasonable" excuse to get her phone number at the end of the quarter. Kaitlin didn't care if she got that printer back, but she was happy that he called.
Andrew hoped to propose on the first trail we hiked together at Ecola State Park, Cannon Beach. That route was washed out from winter storms, but a nearby trail still offered a perfect ocean view, and the sun decided to shine all day even though it was January.
