We’re getting married!

I had been in Idaho on a fire assignment for about a week. After two weeks of playing in dirt, I was in need of a vacation. Dallas was tasked [by me] to plan the weekend getaway. He did not involve me in any of the planning and I was completely in the dark. I thought that was strange because Dallas usually insists that I help him with planning. When I got home, I was told to pack for warm weather and hiking. By that point I had a pretty good idea of where we were going. The only place that is warm in Utah in October is St. George! We went on a beautiful hike of the Narrows in Zion’s National Park. The whole hike I couldn’t help but get my hopes up of getting engaged in the Narrows. But when we reached the end and turned around, all hopes of an engagement were gone. He tricked me! About half a mile on the way back, Dallas asked a passing couple to take our photo. The man taking the pictures took two and tried to hand the phone back to Dallas. Dallas insisted that he take one more photo. While digging my elbow into Dallas’s side I say, “Let them eat their lunch!” I look over at Dallas and he is scouring around in his backpack. He pulls out a ring and gets on one knee. Before he is finished with his proposal, I wrap my arms around him and say, "YES!"
