Kailin and Emily met at Carthage College in 2013, Emily's freshmen year and Kailin's sophomore year. Throughout college the duo swam together, joined Tau Sigma Chi together, and lived together. Post college, Emily and Kailin tore up Lincoln Park and fell in love with Chicago (pre-COVID) together. Put these two together and they will start reminiscing about their crazy adventures! The fun continues as Emily moved out to Utah a few months after Kailin and Sam moved in 2021. Kailin likes to think it is because the two can't be separated! Emily is one of Kailin's closest friends and is a very important person in her life. Throughout the years Emily has found a special spot in Sam's heart, so there is no one else the happy couple would like to be their officiant. Maddie burst into Kailin's life in 2014 at Carthage College. Maddie was a second semester freshmen joining Tau Sigma Chi and playing water polo. Kailin was a hotshot sophomore who loved new friends. Their relationship bloomed throughout the following years as the two couldn't be separated and lived together Kailin's senior year. Maddie and Kailin moved out to Utah within weeks of each other and continue to do life together. Maddie fills Kailin's life with laughter and adventure and holds the record for the amount of times she has made Kailin cry from laughing so hard. Kelsey Ballard

Kelsey is Kailin's older sister and has known Kailin for longer than anyone else (expect their parents). All of Kailin's favorite childhood memories involve Kelsey, Barbies, and Polly Pockets. These memories include waking up on Christmas mornings and seeing what Santa brought us to spending hours playing Sims on the family computer. Kailin would always go to Kelsey's marching band competitions and was so proud to know that her sister was WAY COOLER than her. As adults, whenever the sisters get together they revert to little kids and want to play games and celebrate anything and everything! The light of Kailin's life is Kelsey's son, Weston. If you can catch the 7 year old he loves to talk about animals and video games (especially Minecraft). Weston, Kelsey, and her husband Robby all live in Kentucky surrounded by Robby's family, cows, chickens, and their own huge vegetable garden. Emily and Kailin met their freshmen year at Carthage College in 2012. The pair swam together and Kailin likes to say meeting Emily was love at first sight! Throughout college the best friends bonded by being each others dates to greek life functions, being each others lifting partners, and were always in search of a good time. When Emily and Kailin are together they are the definition of giggly girls. Emily is a bright light in Kailin's life that brings pure joy and comfort to Kailin whenever they are together. Throughout their friendship Emily has always been a safe place to land, have a glass of wine, and watch a scary movie with Emily's husband Danny (love you Dan). During Emily and Kailin's senior year, the two beat the odds and roomed together at their last CCIW Swim Conference, which the matriarch of their life (Beth) said would never happen, well look at us now! Amy Hazen

Kailin met Amy in 2018 when Amy was visiting family in Illinois. Amy is Sam's older sister and lives in Sandpoint, ID with her husband Steve and their two children, Timber (6) and Willa (3). When they were growing up, Amy was a role model for Sam teaching him what to do, what not to do, and dressing him up as a doll whenever she got the chance. Amy continues to be a role model for Sam and Kailin acting as a sounding board for many big life decisions they have taken thus far in their relationship. Uncle Sam is a proud title that Sam does not take lightly and the happy couple enjoys every moment they get to spend with Timber and Willa.
