We met in High school. We knew of each other for a long time but had never spoken until my Sophomore year. His locker popped up next to mine on the first day of school. For a while it was just awkward eye contact during fast and crowded class changes. But then one day he smiled at me and said "What's up buttercup?" And I awkwardly looked at him and pointed at myself with a confused look as to ask "Me?". And then I just blurted out "Uhh...nothing I guess", while I tried my best not to look completely shocked that he had just called me buttercup. Then he laughed and said "No, you're supposed to say 'Nothing much Captain Crunch'". I smiled and walked away. We continued to say that to each other every day at the lockers until he finally got my number and we went on our first date. The rest is history! ❤️
It happened on a normal day. Zac and I went to eat on a Friday when I got off work. He seemed happy but nothing out of ordinary. After dinner he said he wanted to go to Miami Ice. This is where we had our first date. Most girls would sound that as a red flag for a proposal, but we went there from time to time so I didn't think anything of it. After we get Miami Ice we drove down by the boat ramp and the piers on the water. This was still pretty normal. But then, Zac wanted to get out of the car and walk around. This is when I started thinking something was up. Just so happens there was a fishing tournament going on so that just added to my suspicion. (Zac is not the type to want to get out and socialize with strangers.) He walks me down to the pier and we start having small talk as we watch boats buzz off into the river. It gets oddly awkward for a few minutes and then he finally says, "Well since we had our first date here.." as he gets down on one knee. He tells me how much he loves me and a lot of other sweet thing before he asks me to marry him and opens the box to the most gorgeous ring ever. And then of course I said YES!
