Our Story

Cesar and I met in July of 2013. My church in San Diego, Grace Point, is partners with his church in San Pedro Sula, Honduras called Cristo Centro. I went on my first mission trip that year and met Cesar on my first full day there. I went up to him and asked him to write a prayer in my journal (great pick up line, I know?) Then, a little bit later, he greeted me with a kiss on the cheek, which I thought was something totally sweet, but later found out that’s totally normal in Honduras as a way to greet people!! After that first trip, we were friends for the next two years, talking here and there. In 2015, I decided to go back to Honduras for my second mission trip there, and we started catching up and beginning to talk every day for the couple months leading up to my trip. On one of the days during my trip, he asked me to be his girlfriend. We were long distance for a year, until I decided to move to Honduras in June of 2016 to be closer to him and to be able to go out on dates with him while we were in a relationship to get to know him better. Funny thing is before I even officially started dating him, I told my mom while showing her a picture of him, that if I ever moved to Honduras, I was going to marry him. And look what happened! After living in Honduras for a year and half, we then moved together to New Orleans in 2018, got married in a small courthouse ceremony on June 11, 2018, had our traditional religious wedding ceremony in Honduras on December 21, 2019, and now we are going to be able to celebrate our marriage with all our friends and family this year in San Diego!

For all the days along the way
