I don’t like the saying “love at first sight” because it’s nearly impossible for it to be that simple. Love is messy and painfully beautiful, and it has its boundaries. Love is time, effort, patience, and a choice to make over and over again. When I met Dylan for the first time, he came into my work to drop off his resume. I was sweaty, covered in dirt and still, he went home that day, telling his grandparents about the cute girl he met. I ended up driving him home one night, and I was a bit confused when I pulled up to the house that my good friend grew up in. Come to find out that the two were family, and somehow our paths had never crossed. I began to realize that things happen for a reason, and the stars aligned that day for no greater purpose than love. I fell in love with him instantaneously, which is something I deemed impossible. I fell in love with his smile, his laugh, and later on, I fell in love with every piece of him that makes him, him. I just didn’t know love at first sight isn’t just for fairytales.
