About a 45min drive from the resorts. Park and follow the trailhead down a steep 1mile trail to a black sand beach and lush valley. Great exploring, not a place recommended for swimming.
The town of Waimea is the Big Island's 'High Country'. It's just a few minutes away from the hotel and feels different than much of Hawaii. You'll be surrounded by verdant farmland and have expansive views of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai. There are great shops, restaurants and farmers' markets to find there.
