We met through our mutual friend, Keegan, who invited us to a Magic the Gathering (card game) night. Kai was immediately interested in Jamie and asked if they were single. At the time, Jamie was dating someone else. The pair continued to attend events as friends and grew close quickly due to many shared interests

Jamie asked Kai out for a night of bowling. Despite Jamie's obviously superior skills, Kai managed to retain enough dignity to enjoy the date. The pair talked about previous employment and discovered that Jamie had been the EMT for a previous medical episode of Kai's. It was a coincidence beyond belief. Although Kai hardly remembers the event, Jamie met Kai briefly back in 2019. The date went extremely well and a second date to Nicklecade happened soon after

Kai hosted a booth at every Scottish heritage festival in Utah for many years. At one such festival, Jamie spotted the perfect engagement ring. For a week or so prior, Jamie felt it was time to propose. After a long day at the festival, we drove up American Fork canyon to a small clearing by a stream. Butterflies adorned wildflowers as sunlight streamed through the trees. It could not have gone any better!
