It all started with an Oreo milkshake… Kaiah and Donegan first crossed paths at Handel’s Ice Cream in Carlsbad. Kaiah was out with her friend-Bailey and another friend when they stopped by the ice cream window—Bailey had a craving for a milkshake. As fate would have it, Donegan was the one taking their order. Bailey ordered her milkshake, and Kaiah struck up a brief but flirty conversation with Donegan. Sparks flew—at least, that’s what Kaiah’s friend noticed. As they walked away, the friend exclaimed, “Kaiah, he was totally checking you out. Go give him your number!” Kaiah’s immediate response? “Ew, no.” But Bailey wasn’t letting it go. “Kaiah, I dare you. You two had major chemistry!” “Okay, fine,” Kaiah said, “but only because you dared me.” She walked back to the window, asked for a napkin and a pen, and scribbled down her name and number. With a confident smile, she handed it to Donegan. That very night, Donegan texted her—and they ended up hanging out at the Carlsbad mall, shopping and talking like they’d known each other forever. From that night on, they were practically inseparable. Over the next four years, Kaiah and Donegan grew together—through school, careers, distance, and life.
