How We Met

Best Friends To True Partners

We met in band class, never knowing that something so ordinary would become the beginning of everything. At first, we were just two quiet people slowly learning how to talk to one another, but the more we did, the more we realized how similar our hearts were. Conversations turned into comfort, and comfort turned into time spent together that we never wanted to end. Even though we were on separate teams—him as a catcher on the baseball team and me at first base on the softball team—we supported each other from the sidelines, practicing together after school and showing up to games simply because being there for one another mattered. We told ourselves we were just friends, but what we were really building was something deeper—a real bond rooted in trust, laughter, and understanding. When he found the courage to ask me out on that movie date, everything changed, yet somehow everything stayed the same too. Our love grew from friendship, and that friendship became the foundation of our lives together. Today, we stand here not only as two people in love, but as best friends and true partners—choosing each other, supporting each other, and promising a forever built on the bond that started it all.

Through Her eyes

Bride's Point Of View

Spencer William King came into my life during middle school, and he became so much more than just someone I cared about. He was my constant. The person I laughed with when things were light and leaned on when things were heavy. Somewhere between late conversations, shared silence, and the comfort of knowing he would always be there, my heart chose him without hesitation. He became my support system before I even realized how much I needed one. When I doubted myself, he believed in me. When life felt overwhelming, he made it feel manageable—sometimes without saying a word, simply by being present. With him, I felt seen, understood, and safe. Loving him never felt forced or uncertain; it felt natural. His family became my family in ways I will always be grateful for. They welcomed me with open arms and treated me as one of their own. They supported me and helped me in ways I wish they truly knew. Through them, I saw where Spencer’s kindness, strength, and loyalty came from. They raised a good man—one with a steady heart and a genuine soul.

Through His Eyes

Grooms Point Of View

Liliana Kehaulani Kahikina and I met in middle school, but over the next four years of high school, we grew closer than I ever could have imagined. Sometimes it still feels surreal to think that the person I’m going to marry moved around so much before she and her family somehow ended up in Renton, Washington — and that our paths crossed because of it. I am so incredibly lucky and blessed to have Lily in my life. She is my best friend and the love of my life. She understands me better than I understand myself at times, holds me accountable, and constantly pushes me to be a better person. Her love feels like the sun -steady, warm, and endlessly beautiful. I’m not only grateful for my beautiful wife-to-be, but also for her family, who have always treated me as one of their own. They’ve shown me nothing but love and respect, and they’ve always made sure I was welcomed and well fed.
